Learn how to beat the blues.

PEOPLE are being offered the chance to shake off those post-Christmas blues with a series of uplifting courses.

Stockton Council's Adult Education Service has set up a Chill Out course, teaching holistic therapies to relieve and manage stress.

The two-hour course runs from 7pm on Wednesday, January 16, at Egglescliffe School on Durham Road, Eaglescliffe; Thursday, January 17, at Billingham Community Centre on The Causeway from 6.15pm and Thursday, January 17, at Kiora Hall on Ragpath Lane, Roseworth, from 1pm.

The service is also running an Indian head massage course at Billingham Community Centre, starting on Tuesday, January 8. This two-hour course, from either 10am or 7pm, covers the use of essential oils and the techniques of massage.

A two-hour aromatherapy course, teaching people recipes for shampoos, conditioners and body lotions, is also taking place on Monday, January 7, at Egglescliffe School from 7pm; Friday, January 11, at Newtown Community Centre on Durham Road from 1pm, and Thursday, January 18, at Elmwood Youth and Community Centre on Darlington Road, Hartburn, from 10am.

The courses cost pounds 39 or pounds 6 for those on benefits. For more information or to book a place call 01642 527901 or log on to www.stockton.gov.uk/adulted
