The National Science & Technology Board's International Resource Panel (IRP) will convene at the Singapore TechVenture 2000 in San Francisco. This is the first time that the IRP is gathered for discussions on the direction of Singapore's technopreneurship initiatives.

The objective of the IRP is to advise the Technopreneurship 21 Ministerial Committee led by DPM Dr. Tony Tan and provide feedback on ideas and initiatives to promote technopreneurship in Singapore. The IRP is made up of eminent financiers, leading venture capitalists, successful technopreneurs and internationally recognized opinion leaders in technology business from various parts of the world (see annex 1). Their insights on their area of expertise and experience will be highly beneficial and valuable to Singapore.

The members are:

Mr. Donald Valentine (will not be present at Singapore TechVenture 2000)

Mr. Donald Valentine is the General Partner of Sequoia Capital. He and his partners have participated in the financing of over 400 technology companies. He helped finance Atari in 1974, Apple in 1977 and Cisco Systems in 1987. Today, Don is the Chairman of C-Cube Microsystems, the leading vendor of MPEE video compression devices.

Mr. Nigel Brown

Mr. Brown is the founder and senior partner of N.W. Brown and Co., one of the leading independent financial services providers in the Eastern region. Founder and chairman of Great Eastern Investement Forum, 1995, a dating agency for business angels and companies seeking funding.

Mr. Anthony Sun

Mr. Tony Sun is the Central Partner of Venrock Associates, a venture capital partnership representing the Rockefeller Family in New York City. He is in charge of their California Office in Menlo Park. He serves as a trustee and is on 3 other committees at MIT, and also two committees at Harvard Business School and Stanford University.

Mr. Kamran Elahian

Mr. Kamran Elahian is the General Partner at Global Catalyst Partners and Chairman of NeoMagic Corporation. He is a veteran entrepreneur with over 23 years of experience in the high-tech industry. He had co-founded companies like CAE Systems, Inc., Cirrus Logic, Inc., PlanetWeb, Inc., and Centillium Communications, Inc.

Mr. Stanislaus M. Yassukovich (will not be present at Singapore TechVenture 2000)

Mr. Stanislaus M. Yassukovich is the Chairman of EASDAQ S.A. He holds extensive directorships and chairmanships in a diverse array of companies in the media, financial, food & beverage and investment trust sectors. Such companies include ABC International Bank plc, Bristol & West plc, Flextech plc, Euro Spain Fund Ltd, Manek Investment Managers Ltd, among others.

During this meeting, issues to be discussed will include broad strategies for Singapore's T21 and the initiatives undertaken so far. The members will also be updated on the current economic scene of Singapore and the progress of the technopreneurship drive.
