Leadership of China raises issue of strengthening military and political cooperation with Central Asian states -- Foreign Ministry's Envoy.

The Government of China is concerned about development of the situation in Afghanistan after 2014 and its possible impact on the Central Asian region, Chinese Foreign Ministry's Envoy Gao Yusheng said at the meeting of the Chinese delegation with Defense Council Secretary Busurmankul Tabaldiev on September 14 in Bishkek. Envoy Gao Yusheng added that strengthening of the military and political cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian states in fight against threats and challenges emanating from Afghanistan are on the agenda of the leadership of China. China is interested is maintenance of peace, stability and security in the region in a close cooperation between the Central Asian states and China, Gao Yusheng said. Military and political cooperation, relations of the Central Asian states in the sphere of security, current situation in Afghanistan, its development prospects in the light of withdrawal of the coalition forces from Afghanistan in 2014 were discussed at the meeting. Defense Council Secretary Tabaldiev outlined main problems encountered by Kyrgyzstan and other countries of the region in the sphere of security - terrorism, religious extremism, drug spread. These challenges are directly connected with Afghanistan and the situation in this country, he said. Tabaldiev thanked the Government of China for equipment and technical assistance provided to law enforcement, defense and security agencies of Kyrgyzstan. The delegation of China included officials of the Foreign Ministry, law enforcement and special services of China.
