Leaders in industry: who are contributing to the industrial growth of Pakistan.

Mr. John Stoney was appointed as Chief Executive, ICI Pakistan Limited from 25 June 2003. When Pakistan PTA Limited was demerged from ICI Pakistan in August 2001 John was Chief Operating, and appointed Chief Executive, Pakistan PTA Ltd. from January 1, 2002. He had spent 34 yeas with the ICI Group, mainly working in the UK. He was a Business Director of ICI petrochemicals in North East England, and his UK home is close by the town of Darlington, County Durham. He has a degree in Engineering from Cambridge University, and joined ICI in 1966 to work as an Instrumentation Engineer on Fertilizer Plants. After making a switch from Engineering to Marketing, he progressed to become Manager of Energy Purchasing for ICI in UK, Business Director of Teeside utilities and latterly head of the ICI Methanol business. He was also appointed as Chairman, Pakistan PTA Ltd. from 26 June 2003.

John R. Stoney - Chief Executive, ICI Pakistan Limited

Mr. Saulat Said, born on Aril 19, 1946. Director and General Manager, Packages Limited. Education/Professional Courses: M.Sc. (Chemistry) from University of Punjab in 1967. Program for Management Development from Harvard Business School, USA in 1984 (14 weeks). Other Directorships: Director of Coates Lorilleux (Pakistan) Ltd., Tetra Pak Pakistan Ltd., and Packages Lanka (Pvt) Limited. Soon after master's in Chemistry from University of the Punjab in 1967, joined Packages Limited as 'Sales Management Trainee' in Marketing Department. In 1977 was transferred to Milko Limited (a dairy project taken on lease by Packages Ltd.) as 'Project Manager'. This project introduced aseptically packed long life milk in Tetra Pak in the local market. Came back to Packages in 1980 as 'Planning Manager' in their Production Planning Department. In 1990 was posted as company's 'Sales Manager' in the Marketing Department and thereafter promoted as 'Marketing Manager' in January 1994. Took over the charge as 'Deputy General Manager' in July 1994.

Saulat Said - Director & General Manager, Packages Limited

Mr. Kalim-ur-Rahman, was born at Lahore in 1943. He has over 39 years of international and domestic banking experience, including 28 years with foreign banks. He has served in London, UAE and Pakistan. He started his career with Grindlays Bank in 1963, where he was a Covenanted Officer appointed by their Board of Directors in London. He joined Middle EastBank, Dubai in 1978. He was the founding Chief Executive of Indus Bank Limited and the General Manager at the Head Office of Union Bank Limited. An acknowledgment of his banking acumen came when the State Bank of Pakistan. On assuming control of the Mehran Bank Limited in 1994, requisitioned his services, on secondment, to take charge of the troubled Banks, as its Chief Executive. He has had a first class academic career throughout, starting with Senior Cambridge (1958) from Burn Hall School, Abbottabad. He graduated from Govt. College, Lahore in 1962, standing 1st in the College and 3rd in the Punjab University. He went on to do his B.Sc. (Honours) in 1963. In the Institute of Bankers Examination, he received the first prize in Book Keeping and Accounts. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan and has attended several high level courses in Banking and Management in UK, Geneva, UAE and Pakistan.

Kalim-ur-Rahman - President, Askari Commercial Bank Limited

Mr. Tawfiq Habib Chinoy Managing Director, International Industries Limited has been associated with the Company since 1964 and worked in various capacities. He holds directorships in various companies including as Chairman of New Jubilee Insurance Company Limited and Pakistan Cables Limited and Director of National Refinery Limited, PICIC Commercial Bank Ltd., BOC Pakistan Limited, Pak Chemicals Limited, Continental Furnishing Co. (Pvt.) Limited and Forbes Campbell and Company (Pvt.) Ltd. He serves as a Trustee and Governor on the Mohatta palace Gallery Trust and Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. In addition, he is a Member of the Engineering Development Board, Government of Pakistan and Member Advisory Board of Ports and Shipping Sector, Ministry of Communications. He has been President of Sindh Club besides held various assignments at Aga Khan Economic Planning Board and Sultan Mohammad Shah Aga Khan III Foundation School, Karachi.

Towfiq Habib Chinoy - Managing Director - International Industries Limited

Mr. Sadruddin Hashwani S/o Mr. Hussain Hashwani (Late), born on 7-2-1940. Made a modest start in the family's Trading Activities and achieved the position of Top Exporter of Rice and Cotton, from Pakistan. An entry into Hoteliering was made through planning and building two Holiday Inn Hotels (Karachi & Islamabad) which were converted to Marriott Franchise Operation in October 1992. Setup two Industrial Projects in Mid-1980s: Gelcaps Pakistan Ltd. - A Hi-Tech Factory Manufacturing empty hard Gelatin Capsules for Pharmaceutical Industry. In 1985-86 acquired majority interest in Pakistan Services Ltd., a Public Ltd. Co. owning and operating the four Inter-Continental Hotels at Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar. These Hotels were converted to a local chain in the name of Pearl Continental Hotels. Built a fabulous fifth Pearl Continental Resort and Conference Hotel in Bhurban in 1992. Holds major interest in New Jubilee Insurance Co. Ltd. Acquired Zaver Petroleum Corp. Ltd., which was incorporated in 1991 as a Public Ltd. Co. to participate in Oil & Gas Exploration and Production in Pakistan. Business Positions held: Chairman, Pakistan Services Ltd., M.D. Hashwani Hotels Ltd., Chief Executive Zaver Petroleum and Associated Cos., Director New Jubilee Insurance Co. Ltd., Chairman Hashoo Holdings (Pvt) Ltd.

Sadruddin Hashwani - Chairman, Pakistan Services Limited

Mr. Sohail P. Ahmed a Mechanical Engineer from NED Engineering College, Karachi; he did PGD in Industrial Quality Control, Rotterdam and AMP at Instead, France. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers and member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Pakistan Engineering Council etc. He was the Founder President of "Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers" (PAAPAM). He has been a speaker at national and International Seminars organized by ILO, EFP, IBA, PIQC etc. He has 35 years post graduate experience and is currently Executive Vice Chairman of Agriauto Industries Limited and the Chief Executive of Thal Jute Mills, which has two Divisions--Engineering and Jute. He is also Director on the Boards of PIDC, PERAC and Heavy Industries Taxilla.

Sohail P. Ahmed - Chief Executive, Thal Jute Mills Limited

Mr. A. Razzak A. Aziz Tabba is an eminent businessman of the country. With more than 35 years of rich experience in trading, export and industrial management. He is the Chairman of Yunus Brothers Group, which is one of the largest export house of the country. Presently he is: Chairman/Chief Executive--Lucky Cement Limited and Gadoon Textile Mills--one of the largest cement plant and one of the largest spinning mill of the country. He is also Chairman of Lucky Powertech Limited, Fazal Textile Mills Limited, Yunus Textile Mills and also a Director of National Bank of Pakistan. In addition to this, he is an active member of the Board of Governors of Institute of Business Management. Under his Chairmanship, the Yunus Brothers Group received more than 20 Export Trophies from the Government for highest overall exports from the country as well as highest exports in textile sector. He and his family have established "Aziz Tabba Foundation," which is carrying out a number of social welfare activities. One of the most important projects established and run by the foundation is "Aziz Tabba Dialysis Centre". The "Aziz Tabba Memon Cardiac Centre" which is being established on an area of approx. 8,000 sq. meters in Federal 'B' Area, Karachi. It will be a 100 bed hospital. He is the Chairman of the group is an active member of the board of Governors of Institute of Business Administration.
