Leader in life.

A leading science organisation has a new boss.

The Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences (CELS) has appointed Ian Shott as its new non-executive chairman.

Based in Newcastle, Ian's role will primarily involve leading the board to further develop CELS strategy in looking after healthcare.

His overriding goal will be to help CELS improve the region's position as a recognised and vibrant world leader in the field.

Since being established in 2001, CELS has played a crucial role in One NorthEast's Strategy for Success initiative, helping generate innovation, competitiveness and economic growth for the region.
