Lawn Tennis: Frenchman can keep up pattern of quick victories.

SPORTING and Spreadex appear to be expecting a long game when Nicolas Kiefer and Fabrice Santoro go head-to-head in the Nasdaq-100 second round tonight, but they may be wrong to do so, writes Paul Kealy.

Santoro has had something of an Indian sign over Kiefer throughout their careers, with the Frenchman winning all six of their meetings.

And though their last clash was not far off four years ago, there is little in their most recent efforts to suggest the German can come out best this time.

He appears to have lost the plot slightly since pushing Roger Federer so hard in the Australian Open and may quickly lose his desire when Santoro starts pushing him all over the court.

Kiefer has won only one set against Santoro and the average make-up in their five best-of-three set encounters is 21.2. Sell at 24.5 with Spreadex.
