Lawmaker's son detained in Bishkek on charges with large scale fraud, unlawful appropriation of property.

The prosecutor from Bishkek prosecutor's office, Eldar Madylbekov, was detained on charges with corporate raid and large scale fraud, the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan said. The prosecutor was detained on September 15 as part of investigation of the criminal case connected with illegal takeover and sale of property of the Bakievs. "The size of the damage of interests of the state in the result of unlawful actions of Madylbekov is $2mln or 94 million som," the General Prosecutor's Office said. The investigation of the case is ongoing. The investigation tries to establish other figures, including members of the Parliament, involved into unlawful takeover and sale of property of the Bakievs. The General Prosecutor's office said detention of Madylbekov is not connected with the facts voiced by another detainee held in the remand prison of Bishkek, who said that Ata Meken members organized looting of the Bakiev's house during April 2010 events. Madylbekov is held in the pre-trial detention facility of Bishkek City Police Department. Eldar Madylbekov is son of MP Turat Madylbekov (Ata Meken), chairman of the parliamentary committee for corruption combat.
