Law firm takes 160,000 sf.

The Edward S. Gordon Company, Inc. (ESG) has brokered a 160,000 square foot lease for one of the oldest law firms in New York City, announced president Stephen B. Siegel.

Coudert Brothers, which was established in 1853 and has a huge international practice with offices in cities worldwide, will relocate from 200 Park Avenue to the W.R. Grace Building, 1114 Avenue of the Americas, where they will occupy five full floors. The transaction, which is actually two separate leases for a total of 20 years, has an aggregate value in excess of $110 million.

According to ESG Senior Managing Director David W. Levinson who represented Coudert Brothers in the deal, the first 10 years is a sublease from W.R. Grace, and the second 10 years is a direct lease with the building owner, Swig, Weiler & Arnow.
