Law Degree and much more!

The Law Department at Hartlepool Sixth Form College offers a full time Qualifying Law degree to students who successfully achieve good grades at A2 in a variety of subjects. All students must apply through the UCAS system and attend two days per week. this degree is in collaboration with the University of Sunderland, with students progressing to the University Campus in their second and third years of study.

Students are also offered the opportunity to study for a Foundation degree in law and spend two years based at the College reading a range of legal topics and experiencing the law from a practical vocational perspective. On successful completion of the Foundation degree students would be qualified to work in a legal environment as a member of the Institute of Legal Executives and after a qualifying period would be able to apply for full fellowship status. Otherwise students can progress onto the second year of a qualifying law degree (LLB) with the University of Sunderland or progress to the third year of a BA in Business Law. Individuals who are currently working in business who are interested in obtaining a specialist legal qualification such as employment or contract law can also study for an Ilex single subject Diploma. This course is recognised by employers such as the Crown Prosecution Service, the Courts, Judges and Solicitors as preparing students with the necessary skills to work in practice.

"I wanted to further my career but as I am a full time Team Manager for NPower this was proving difficult and my options were limited. However, I found out that Hartlepool Sixth form College ware doing a full time Foundation Law degree with attendance two days per week. Their flexible hours meant that I was able to still do my job & study at the same time.

We are assessed on practical work and course work not just all exams.

We covered modules not just for the FD but for an extra qualification qualifying to Ilex level 6 as a member for the Institute of Legal Executives which is an absolute bonus for any student! "My 1st year's experience has been a challenging one but even more enjoyable overall. I could not have done this without the friendly and helpful law lecturers at the College."
