NNA - 23/8/2012 - Minister of Justice, Shakib Qortbawi, duly referred to House Speaker, Nabih Berri, a request hereby asking to lift the parliamentary immunity off MP Mouein Merehbi, National News Agency correspondent in the Justice Palace reported Thursday.

The request was lodged upon a complaint filed by the Lebanese Army Command against the Deputy before the State Prosecution.

The demand was annexed with a memo by the State Prosecutor comprising the sort, time, and place of the crime, in compliance with the provisions of article 91 of the Parliament's bylaws.

After the request is registered, the House Speaker shall duly convene the Parliament's Bureau and the Justice and Administration Committee in a joint session to study the claim, whereas a related report shall be set within a two-week deadline, pursuant to article 92 of the Parliament's bylaws.

If the report is not submitted on time, the Speaker shall notify the Parliament of the delay during the first parliamentary session, to decide whether to grant the joint bodies an additional time limit to finalize the report or to directly settle on the demand.
