Lavelle Engineering Technologies Adds Two-Way Paging Capability to Internet-Based Service & Delivery Dispatch System.

LET named dealer for BELLSOUTH Interactive Pager,

Interactive Paging Service

Lavelle Engineering Technologies Inc. (LET) has enhanced its Internet-based OnSite Dispatch(TM) software package, adding two-way paging technology to its previously-announced digital cellular phone capability for service and delivery dispatching.

The announcement was made here by LET founder and President Michael R. Lavelle.

Lavelle Engineering Technologies introduced Internet-based dispatch technology last year, using a digital cellular (CDPD) telephone, and now opens Internet dispatching to multiple hand-held technologies.

LET offers its OnSite Dispatch technology in a bundled package with the BellSouth RIM Interactive(TM) Pager 950, to provide Internet-based dispatching for towing, vehicle recovery, courier and package delivery services, as well as applications in manufacturing, wholesale, retail and distribution markets.

The same dispatching technology can also be used by other mobile personnel. It captures a record of service delivered in a wide variety of applications, including service technicians working on a business or university campus, and those providing services at multiple locations, in-house or on contract.

LET becomes a dealer for BellSouth Wireless Data, a business unit of BellSouth Corp. (NYSE:BLS).

"Internet pager technology enables courier and package delivery firms to boost the productivity of their dispatchers and fleet. The technology allows dispatchers and drivers to exchange live messages much like e-mail, but in 'real time.' It also dramatically reduces the amount of paperwork required to handle a job," Lavelle said.

The technology has been available through digital cellular (CDPD) telephones since April, 1998. The interactive pager expands coverage to over 93% of the U. S. population.

"Use of OnSite Dispatch software and the BellSouth RIM Interactive Pager can help companies to increase field personnel productivity by up to 20%, and dispatcher productivity by up to 30%. This can add $50 to $200 in revenue per day, by enhancing productivity and decreasing 'down time' between dispatches for the service person or driver. At the same time, response time is improved for customers," he added.
