(TAP) - An awareness campaign against sexual harassment in public transport was launched on Wednesday under the slogan "Me toskotch mekch wahdek" (Don't keep silent, you are not alone), announced programme coordinator at Friedrich Ebert Foundation Habiba Tounsi.

A mobile application called "Yezina", (That's enough) will be launched as part of this campaign, organised by Academy of the Future under the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, in partnership with the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women (ATFD) and the international association of students in economics and business, Tunis section, she said at a press conference in Tunis.

This application makes it possible to immediately report these misbehaviours and their location, she said, adding that it is a simple and easy application that guarantees the personal data of users.

The goal of this awareness campaign is to combat sexual harassment in public transport, she pointed out.

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation has already launched another campaign to present the law on sexual harassment, she said, noting that the copy was written in colloquial language to facilitate the understanding of the law.

Habiba Tounsi added that the foundation has also used social media to raise awareness of the importance of information on sexual harassment and the measures needed to combat it.

The existence of a law in Tunisia to sanction sexual harassment is a major achievement, she said, stressing the importance of facilitating procedures to help citizens convey their message and break the silence on sexual harassment.

Tounsi urged the authorities concerned to take this phenomenon seriously and to implement a clear strategy against violence.
