Lauda Air service to Myanmar criticised by Asian human rights group.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Austrian airline Lauda Air has recently launched a service from Vienna to Myanmar, however the route has received criticism from an Asian human rights group.

The Bangkok-based group Forum-Asia - a regional human rights consortium - claims that the Vienna-Yangon-Myanmar-Vienna route will benefit Myanmar's military regime rather than its people, and has accused the carrier of putting profits before people.

According to The Associated Press, Lauda Air is operating weekly flights on the route.
