Latvian picks three candidates for expert's job on Council of Europe committee.

RIGA, Aug 10 (LETA) - Latvia has nominated three candidates for expert's job on the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT), according to information provided by the Foreign Ministry.

The three candidates to work on the Council of Europe committee are the State Probation Service's deputy head Imants Jurevics, Solvita Olsena, a lawyer and professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Latvia, and Elina Steinerte who works at the University of Bristol, UK.

The Foreign Ministry is expected to inform the head of the Latvian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe about the selected candidate experts.

One of the three candidates will be elected the committee's expert. The Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers will take the final decision in a vote.

The three candidates from Latvia were chosen in a public tender with five candidates taking part in the competition.
