Latin America Smaller Companies Fund Inc. Announces Results of Liquidation Vote and Record Date for Liquidation Distribution.

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 1998--The Board of Directors of Latin America Smaller Companies Fund, Inc. announces that stockholders approved the plan of complete liquidation and dissolution of the Fund at a Special Meeting of Stockholders held on Tuesday, December 15, 1998. The measure was approved by a vote of more than 98% of shares represented at the meeting (more than 65% of shares outstanding). Management of the Fund will proceed with an orderly liquidation of the Fund, which may take an estimated three months under reasonable market conditions. The record date for stockholders eligible to receive a distribution from the Fund's liquidation will be announced as soon as practicable.
