Late Durbin effort gives Cru key win; North Wales seal Workington scalp.

Byline: RYAN GOULD at Derwent Park Stadium

RUGBY LEAGUE - C'MPIONSHIP Workington Town 10 North Wales Crusaders 11 NORTH Wales Crusaders picked up another crucial win on the road as a Jamie Durbin drop-goal at the death saw off Cumbrian outfit Workington Town.

The game was on a knife edge after Brett Phillips' try just past the hour mark had locked the game at 10-10.

Tries were exchanged through Stuart Reardon and Connor Farrell early on, before Stephen Bannister's touchdown gave Crusaders the lead at the break.

As has been the case in the last couple of games, Crusaders weren't without their errors in attack - especially in the first-half - and had to do a lot of defending.

But, once again, it was that factor which made another away win so impressive.

The Welsh side took the lead when, after Stephen Bannister had hit the line and offloaded the ball, Stuart Reardon managed to keep his feet in the field and touch down in the corner.

Crusaders could have been in for a second soon after as Rob Massam knocked off several tackles and broke down the wing, but he was then forced out of play by the covering tacklers.

When Town piled on the pressure, Crusaders' response was emphatic; Jamie Dallimore and Stephen Bannister pushed Jason Mossop into touch as he dived at the corner.

But the pressure did tell eventually, as Connor Farrell crashed through a hole in the Crusaders defence to ground next to the posts.

However, Crusaders came up with a quick response; Stephen Bannister hit the line from 10 metres and shrugged off a number of tackles to reach and score in the corner.

The visitors had a lucky escape when they let the ball bounce from a high kick, leaving Brett Carter to chase a rolling ball, although it had gone dead by the time the winger touched down.

But Crusaders weren't so lucky when Brett Phillips managed to force his way over down the left wing, taking the game level at 10-10.

Then came the important moment - Jamie Durbin slotted over the one-pointer, though it seemed to take an age to head over the posts.
