Lanus targets first Libertadores title against Gremio.

By: Egypt Today staff CAIRO -- 27 November 2017: Argentina's Lanus hosts Brazil's Gremio for the Copa Libertadores final second leg on Wednesday night in Estadio Ciudad de LanAaAaAeAe[bar]s, Argentina. Despite losi 1-0 in the first leg in Brazil, the Lanus players had a great performance and were the better side. Lanus created many chances to score, but their strikers failed to reach the back of the net. Lanus is dependent on their striker Jose Sand, who is the current top goal scorer of the competition with eight goals, one goal ahead of Gremio's Luan Vieira. Lanus, which has never won the title, hopes to beat the Brazilian team that has lifted the trophy twice before. Lanus qualified to the final after defeating three-time champions River Plate, while Gremio eliminated Ecuador's Barcelona to reach the final. Gremio plays the fifth final in their history. They won the title in 1983 and 1995, while they lost in the final in 1984 and 2007. Lanus hopes to be the ninth Argentinean club to win the title, as Independiente, Boca Juniors, Estudiantes, River Plate, Racing, Argentinos Juniors, Velez Sarsfield and San Lorenzo have all previously won the title.
