Land Rover design guru hangs up pencil after 23 years.
THE man responsible for the design of the current line-up of Land Rovers, Geoff Upex, is to retire from the company at the end of this year.Mr Upex has been with the company for 23 years, during which time he has been responsible for the creation of such design icons as the Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery and Freelander.
He will be succeeded by Gerry McGovern, currently director of advanced design for Land Rover, who will assume responsibility for all Land Rover design with immediate effect.
Mr Upex will stay with the company until the end of the year and will continue to play a key role in the launch of new products including the new Freelander.
