Lahore-Sahiwal cycle race on March 23.

LAHORE, January 28, 2012 (Balochistan Times): A number of foreign cycling teams are likely to take part in Lahore to Sahiwal international cycling race being held on March 23 as a part of Pakistan Day celebrations. Invitations have been extended to India, Bangladesh, Syria and Afghanistan and we will be bearing the entire expense of the foreign teams by sending them air tickets and providing boarding and lodging facilities, said Idris Haider Khawaja, Secretary of his own faction of Pakistan Cycling Federation here on Friday. The 154 kilometre long event will be participated by the provincial teams and the affiliated units of the PCF, he said. He said each foreign team can field two riders and one official in the race which will further boost the efforts for promoting cycling in the country. He said Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony the winner will get a cash award of Rs 100,000.
