Lady Mags to the four to defeat County; NORTHERN DIVISION FA WOMEN'S LEAGUE.
NEWCASTLE United ended the year with their biggest win of the season, earning three important points with a 4-0 home win over Stockport County.
A crowd of 65 watched the Lady Mags secure their third victory of 2019-20 as they attempt to climb away from the drop zone.
In a rather uneventful first 40 minutes, the visitors had the first chance after 18 minutes before Jess Foster tested the Stockport goalkeeper.
The deadlock was broken five minutes before the break when Brianna Westrup played a one-two with Foster before firing home.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Foster was on the goalsheet after being played through by Megan McKenzie - and then United notched twice more.
After 67 minutes McKenzie made it 3-0, finishing off a fine team move.
Then, for the first time in more than a year, the Lady Mags hit a fourth goal in a league game when substitute Steph Ord found the target.
It was the first time Newcastle have struck more than two goals in a league match this season - and the first time they have netted more three in a league match since beating relegated Morecambe 5-1 at home in September 2018.
The Lady Mags, who had managed only six goals before this game, move a point above Stockport County in the relegation battle.
Six points now separate them from bottom side Bradford City, Norton and Stockton Ancients and Chorley also just below them.
United resume their league campaign on January 12, at home to unbeaten leaders Barnsley.
