Lady GaGa will be performing later for thousands of young charity work volunteers.

The flamboyant New York pop star will join British groups The Enemy and N-Dubz at the Orange RockCorps gig at Manchester Apollo.

More than 3,000 people secured tickets by putting in four hours of voluntary labour for charities in Manchester.

They took part in the music-led programme which addressed issues as diverse as social deprivation, urban regeneration and support for people affected by HIV.

Last month, Lady GaGa visited the Body Positive North West Centre in Whalley Range, Manchester - a meeting place for young people affected by HIV and Aids - where she met volunteers and helped them paint a mural of herself.

The Orange RockCorps programme will continue with a series of four-hour projects in London followed by a gig for 5,000 volunteers at The Royal Albert Hall on September 25.

A similar project will take place the following month in Paris.

Last year, 5,000 people in the UK took part in Orange RockCorps.
