Ladish Malting Co. bought by Cargill.

John Ladish, chairman and chief executive officer, Ladish Malting Co., America's largest malting concern, announced that Cargill, located in Minnetonka, MN, has agreed to purchase a majority of Ladish's stock.

Cargill executive vice president Gerald Mitchell, said "the joining of the two companies makes great sense as the cultures of both companies are very similar.

"Both companies are private," Mitchell continued, "focus on fulfilling customers' requirements with top quality and service, have a dedication to ethical behavior and a sincere appreciation of employees."

Mitchell explained that Ladish, which represents Cargill's entry into the U.S. malting business, will operate as a subsidiary of Cargill under the continued leadership of that company's current chairman.

John Ladish noted that Cargill's acquisition "will ensure us success to the resources necessary to remain one of the most progressive leaders in the U.S. malting industry over the long term and will help us continue to maintain our excellent supplier relationships with this country's foremost brewers."

Ladish is the biggest malting company in the United States, and combined with Cargill's malting operations in France, Holland, Belgium and Spain, will comprise the largest malting company in the world.
