Labour deal to slash fuel bills by PS150; ENERGY.

Byline: TOM McTAGUE

A PACKAGE to cut PS150 a year off household energy bills has been put together by Labour, the Mirror has learnt.

Families will get the chance to bulk-buy electricity and gas to drive down the cost.

Energy prices are one of the biggest burdens facing families - but only 20% are on the cheapest deal.

The bulk-buying scheme, to be run by Labour and the energy company iChoosr, uses the mass purchasing power of thousands of customers to get cheaper energy than families who buy on their own.

Similar schemes in Europe have slashed costs and would save families here more than PS10 a month.

Shadow Climate Change Secretary Caroline Flint, who will unveil the scheme at the upcoming party conference, said: "Labour has always believed that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone."
