Laboratory mixer. (Equipment).
A laboratory internal mixer is said to be suitable not only for rubber compounds, but also plastics and thermoplastic elastomers. The mixer has a batch size of 1.5 liters, incorporating tangential rotors and an ac invertor drive control system to provide variable rotor speeds, plus a high pressure feed hopper. Tangential or interlocking type rotors are available to suit the process and compounds being tested. Both the mixing chamber and feed hopper are stainless steel and incorporate safety systems conforming to the latest standards, according to the manufacturer. Hydraulic drop door discharge or pneumatic side discharge systems are available. A dual special hot oil thermoregulation system with increased cooling capacity is incorporated to control the various mixer body unit areas and rotors. The control system is fully automatic with operator control parameters such as variable rotor speed profiles, preset temperature setpoints, preset energy setpoints, programmable temperature (mixer body and rotors), floating weight action, floating weight cycle and frequency of data collection/logging. Data collection/logging software is used to manage the recipes and profiles for each batch. The main PC control unit is panel mounted. (J.R.D.
