LaRoche Industries Inc. appoints Robert L. Yohe to its Board of Directors.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 1996--Robert L. Yohe is joining the Board of Directors of LaRoche Industries Inc. Yohe retired as Vice Chairman of Olin Corporation in 1994, after 11 years of distinguished service. He served in many leadership capacities at Olin including President of the Chemicals Group from 1985 to 1993 and Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions from 1983 to 1985. Prior to joining Olin Corporation, Yohe worked in executive management for Uniroyal, and Occidental Petroleum's Hooker Chemical Division.

Yohe is a member of the board of directors of Airgas, Inc., Betz Laboratories, Inc., and Calgon Carbon Corporation. He is also a Trustee of Lafayette College, where he earned his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1958. Yohe earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1964.

LaRoche Industries Inc. makes a diverse range of chemicals at six manufacturing facilities in the United States. The manufacturing sites are located in Cherokee, Ala.; Seneca, Ill.; Gramercy, La.; Baton Rouge, La.; Crystal City, Mo.; and Geneva, Utah. LaRoche also sells products from 26 distribution sites throughout the country, and jointly owns a manufacturing facility in Westwego, La. LaRoche Air Systems, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary producing energy conservation products in Baton Rouge.

LaRoche Industries Inc. is celebrating its 10th year of operation in 1996. Since its inception, the company has grown its sales more than 300 percent and gross sales reached nearly $450 million last year.

The company produces electrochemicals such as chlorine and caustic soda for plastics, water treatment, waste treatment and other chemical manufacturing processes and HCFC-141b for rigid foam insulation. LaRoche manufactures and/or distributes nitrogen-based chemicals including anhydrous ammonia, aqua ammonia, nitric acid, low density ammonium nitrate and nitrate solutions for industrial applications. Other nitrogen-based products, such as high density ammonium nitrate, urea, UAN solutions, potash and phosphates, are sold into U.S. agricultural markets. LaRoche also manufactures activated and Versal(TM) alumina for environmental and chemical processing such as specialty adsorbents, catalysts and catalyst supports, specialty abrasives and other performance-critical applications.

LaRoche Air Systems Inc. developed and supplies a variety of desiccant cooling wheels and cassettes, cooling systems and energy conservation/dehumidification components under industry-recognized names like NovelAire and Comfort Wheel(TM).
