LWW & medical Society launch journal in early 2007.

Healthcare publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (Philadelphia, PA) has entered into a partnership with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM; Chevy Chase, MD), an addiction medicine society dedicated to improving the treatment of people with addiction disorders, to publish the "Journal of Addiction Medicine" with a premier issue in early 2007. It will be published quarterly and will be distributed on a controlled basis to all ASAM members and related nonmember medical professionals.

Each issue will carry studies of scientific and clinical areas in addiction medicine research, ranging from neurobiology and neuropharmacology lab, to the specialty clinic, to the family doctor's office. It will cover all the latest scientific and medical advances as well the myriad of ethical, forensic and social issues involved in addiction diseases. New research will be complemented by current news and editorials, clinical case conferences and other content relevant to practicing physicians and addiction medicine professionals.

Co-editor Dr. Shannon Miller said "our goal is to provide a forum for all professionals with a stake in treating addiction disorders." Senior Editor Dr. George Koob said "our journal will not only convey the wealth of basic research information now being generated in the addiction field to the practicing clinical addiction professional, but also translate critical information about how new clinical developments back to the basic science researchers."
