LUKIC CAN GO TO ELL!
Lukic, 35, will be booted out at the end of the season - even though manager Howard Wilkinson had apparently promised to discuss a new contract with him.
"My contract runs out in a couple of months and the manager has been saying for ages that we must sit down and talk about a new deal.
"But we never got round to doing it," said Lukic.
"He's had problems of his own recently as we've gone into a nosedive, so I try to give him the benefit of the doubt and I understand the delay.
"It's my second spell at a club I have served for a total of 11 years and this is my testimonial season.
"It now looks like being my last season as well - but that doesn't mean it's the end of the world.
"I'm as fit as I've ever been. I'm still enjoying the game and look forward to playing for at least another three years.
"I just bought a new house in Derbyshire. I had no plans to go anywhere else, because I'm happy at Leeds.
"But if I can't play on here I'll go somewhere else and do it. I'm not finished by a long, long way."
Lukic, an England youth and Under-21 international, joined Leeds from school and had five years with them before signing for Arsenal in 1983.
In seven years with the Gunners he helped them to win the League Championship and League Cup before returning to Leeds in a pounds 1million deal six years ago.
Despite the contract promise, he feared the worst after being axed for the second time this season, against Manchester United last Wednesday, and is now planning a future away from Elland Road.
