 LUKENS RENAMES WASHINGTON STEEL COMPANIES AFTER ACQUISITION
 COATESVILLE, Pa., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Lukens Inc. (NYSE: LUC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer R.W. Van Sant, today announced name changes at Washington Steel Corporation.
 Lukens completed the purchase of Washington Steel, a leading stainless steel company, on April 24.
 Van Sant said the two new companies, Washington Steel Corporation and Washington Specialty Metals Corporation, were formerly operated under the Washington Steel name as the Mill Group and the Service Center Group. "This Change reflects our intention to manage the companies as separate operating entities," he said.
 Washington Steel Corporation is comprised of stainless steel manufacturing facilities in Washington and Houston, Pa., and Massillon, Ohio. These operations manufacture hot and cold-rolled stainless sheet and strip and continuous mill plate. Washington Steel Corporation, headquartered in Washington, Pa., is under the direction of Robert E. Heaton, president and chief operating officer and a senior vice president of Lukens Inc.
 Washington Specialty Metals Corporation, which is the largest U.S. distributor of cold-rolled stainless steel products, has distribution and processing facilities at Wheeling, Ill., and Lawrenceville, Ga. It also operates U.S. distribution centers in Carrollton, Texas; Tampa, Fla.; and Youngsville, N.C. Two Canadian distribution centers, Mercury Stainless Canada, Inc., in Brampton, Ontario, and Mercury Du Canada, Inc., in Vaudreuil, Quebec, are also part of Washington Specialty Metals. Headquartered in Wheeling, Washington Specialty Metals is under the direction of James J. Norton, president and chief operating officer and a vice president of Lukens Inc.
 Lukens Inc. is a Fortune 500 company that provides carbon and alloy plate steels, stainless steel sheet, strip and continuous mill plate products, traffic and industrial safety products and materials-handling equipment. Lukens also provides pipe-coating and corrosion protection services and operates three short-line railroads.
