LUKENS ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES AT STAINLESS GROUP

    WASHINGTON, Pa., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Washington Steel Corporation, a subsidiary of Lukens Inc. (NYSE: LUC), recently announced the realignment of several key management positions in support of Lukens 2000 -- the corporate plan for growth.
    "As we move towards our goal of becoming a world-class producer of stainless steel, our new management team is structured to provide the leadership and insight needed to drive the Stainless Steel Group in a very competitive business environment," said T. Grant John, president and chief operating officer of Washington Steel.
    MANUFACTURING:
    Thomas J. Glaister, 44, has been named general manager-Washington Operations.  His responsibilities include management of day-to-day operational performance and longer term strategic management of Washington Steel facilities in Washington, Pa.  Glaister joins Washington Steel from Lukens' Industrial Products Group, where he was president of Lukens' materials-handling subsidiaries.  A graduate of Gannon University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Glaister also has an M.B.A. from Drexel University.
    Joseph K. Kusic, 44, was promoted to vice president and general manager - Houston Operations and will manage improvement projects aimed at Washington Steel's melting and hot mill operations.  He also assumes responsibility for the performance of day-to-day steelmaking operations in Houston, Pa.
    James J. Pierotti, who plans to retire in March 1994, has been named executive vice president-consultant.  Pierotti will coordinate special projects and advise the operations management team.
    John R. Wright, Jr., 32, will assume the new position of director- materials management.  Formerly the  director-planning, Wright is responsible for purchasing and production control at Washington Steel and will manage all outside processing of materials.
    SALES:
    George B. Coulter, 53, has been named vice president of marketing and reports to the president of Washington Steel.  Formerly director of marketing for sheet and plate products at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, Coulter will manage new product development, pricing policies and related marketing functions.  With 31 years of experience in the steel industry, Coulter has extensive knowledge of specialty steel products within domestic and international markets.  He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
    Thomas S. Foust, formerly vice president-sales, announced his retirement effective September 1, 1993.
    David F. Musick, 54, will continue as general sales manager reporting directly to the president.
    ADMINISTRATIVE:
    David R. Stanton, formerly vice president-finance, has resigned to pursue other business opportunities.
