LUFTHANSA MAINTAINS OPERATIONS; SPECIAL TELEPHONE INFO LINE INSTALLED
NEW YORK, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite the fact that all flights in and out of Frankfurt have been canceled up to midnight tonight due to a public service workers strike in Germany, Lufthansa is maximizing all efforts to maintain its flight operations. Regularly updated flight information is available by calling 800-645-3880 on a special telephone line which will remain accessible as long as the strike affects service to Germany.
Today's 24-hour strike by airport fire fighters, shutting down operations at Frankfurt Airport, affected all carriers servicing Germany. Passengers are being re-routed but should expect delays.
Lufthansa will remain flexible in its ticket re-booking policy for the duration of the strike. The carrier's liberal endorsement policy allows full-fare passengers who must travel today the option of re- booking -- without penalty -- on other carrier's flights into Europe. Lufthansa will make these re-bookings via telephone in order to expedite the process.
First and Business Class passengers who miss connecting flights will be offered hotel accommodations.
An alternate telephone number in New York to call for more information is 718-895-1277.
