LUCAS SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH PRATT & WHITNEY FOR $25 MILLION CONTRACT

PARIS, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucas has signed an agreement in principal with Pratt & Whitney of East Hartford, Conn., for a three-year contract to develop and produce engine-mounted accessory drive gearboxes for Pratt's F100 and F119 military engines and JT8 and GG8 commercial engines as well as related spares. The prospective contract is valued at approximately $25 million. First delivery would begin January 1994 and continue through the end of 1996.
Lucas' Geared Systems business of Park City, Utah, will build the gearboxes, which convert spool rotary energy into drives for accessory components including fuel pump, alternator, generator, hydraulic pump, oil pump and starter.
