LUCAS INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES SUSPENSION OF OPERATIONS AT ITS SANTA BARBARA, CALIF., MAINTENANCE FACILITY

 RESTON, Va., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucas Industries has announced that Lucas Aviation, its U.S.-based aircraft maintenance and modification subsidiary, is to suspend operations at its maintenance facility in Santa Barbara, Calif. This reflects difficult trading conditions in the aircraft maintenance market.
 The Lucas Aviation modification business at Santa Maria, Calif., will continue to operate as normal.
 The Santa Barbara work force has been told that 202 employees will be laid off immediately and the remaining 180 will be laid off within 60 days.
 Lucas Industries is a leading international supplier of advanced technology systems, components and services to the world's aerospace, automotive and other selected markets.
