LUCAS AWARDED $3.8 MILLION CONTRACT FROM TEXAS INSTRUMENTS

PARIS, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucas has received a contract valued in excess of $3.8 million from Texas Instruments Defense Systems & Electronics Group, Lewisville, Texas, for Engineering and Manufacturing Development of the Joint Stand Off Weapon (JSOW) fin control actuation system, which provides direction guidance for the missile. Lucas designs and produces the systems at its Power Equipment facility in Aurora, Ohio.
JSOW, a stand-off missile program, is intended to provide the next generation fire-and-forget capability for the U.S. Navy and Air Force arsenals potentially replacing a number of existing air-to-ground weapons including Walleye, Skipper, Maverick and Laser Guided Bombs. JSOW is a low-cost weapon incorporating a modular framework with built- in growth capability. It is compatible with most U.S. and NATO attack aircraft.
Lucas Aerospace currently supplies advanced fin actuation systems and equipment for programs such as Tomahawk, ERINT, Harpoon/SLAM, HARM and AMRAAM.
Power Equipment is part of the international group of businesses that comprise Lucas Aircraft Systems which, in addition to its electric power generation capabilities, designs, develops and manufactures equipment and systems for ice protection, missile casings and actuation, cockpit and cabin windows and cargo handling systems.
Lucas aerospace businesses are leading suppliers of aerospace systems and equipment with annual sales of $1.2 billion and operating facilities across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, as well as associated companies, joint ventures, marketing and customer support facilities around the world. The businesses are part of Lucas Industries plc, a leading international supplier of advanced technology systems, components and services to the world's aerospace, automotive and other selected markets, with sales of $4.5 billion.
