LUBY'S CAFETERIAS NAMES TWO TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 SAN ANTONIO, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Luby's Cafeterias, Inc. (NYSE: LUB) today named Joanne Winik and William E. Robson to the corporation's board of directors. Ms. Winik is president and general manager of KLRN-TV, the Alamo Public telecommunications Council. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from Dominican College in Racine, Wis., and did postgraduate work at DePaul University in Chicago. She began her career with KLRN-TV in 1972 and has served as director of development, associate manager of station operations and station manager before being named president and general manager in 1987. In 1988, she was interim president of the Southwest Texas Public Broadcasting Council. Ms. Winik is currently serving as secretary of the Southern Educational Communications Association and is a member of the Texas Public Broadcasting Association as well as numerous other professional and civic organizations.
 Mr. Robson, a native of San Antonio, began his career with Luby's as an assistant cafeteria manager in 1966. He served as manager of several cafeterias in San Antonio and Houston before being named area vice president in the Houston area. In 1984, he was promoted to vice president-food service coordinator in the corporate headquarters and in 1988 was named senior vice president - operations development. In March 1992, he was made senior vice president - operations, with the responsibility of overseeing all cafeteria operations. Mr. Robson currently serves as state chairman of the Texas Association of Business and is a member of the board of directors of the San Antonio Food Bank.
 The board also announced the resignation of Merton M. Minter, Jr., who had served as a director since 1979.
 The appointment of the two new board members brings the total number of directors to ten.
 The San Antonio based company operates 168 Luby's cafeterias in ten states and its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol LUB.
