LTD adding VA clinic to route.

Byline: Edward Russo The Register-Guard

Lane Transit District is increasing the frequency of service on its routes and extending an established route to serve the new federal Veterans Administration medical clinic in Eugene.

LTD makes adjustments to its system three times a year, based on a yearly review and comments from the community, the agency said.

The largest of the changes occurs this month, timed for the influx of students returning for a new school year, LTD said.

In September, most of LTD's bus routes are improving to provide more trips throughout the day, the agency said.

Also, Route 12 is being extended north on Gateway Street in Springfield to serve the VA clinic on Chad Drive in Eugene.

The clinic is still under construction, but service to the building began Sunday because employees will start working there in the fall, said Andy Vobora, LTD's customer service director.

The clinic is expected to open for patients in January.

LTD recommends that people visit LTD.org to see how the changes affect routes and to use the "Plan Your Trip" tool for customized travel plans or the "Find Your Routes" section for general information on each route. Both features are available on the right side of the home page.

Paper schedules also are available in the new Rider's Digests on buses and at the customer service center in the downtown Eugene transit station at 11th Avenue and Willamette Street.

People also can get information by calling LTD's customer service line, 541-687-5555.
