LTC Workers Union holds hunger strike camp.

Mardan -- Muttahida Workers Union Lakson Tobacco Company (MWULTC) staged a protest hunger strike camp in front of GLT Factory at Ismailia village on Mardan-Swabi road. President Akhtar Muneer, senior vice president Shafique Zaman, vice president Pir Waqif Khan, general secretary Mohammad Iltaf and other office bearers and workers participated in the camp in large numbers.

Addressing to the hunger strike camp speakers said that they can die with hunger but can't accept the contact policy of Lakson Tobacco Company. They said that more than 1,300 workers belonging from Mardan and Swabi district are working in every season in Lakson Tobacco Company and they gave 5 percent to every worker every year but last year they gave 3 percent to workers and now in the current session they wanted to hand over the session workers to the contactors.

They added that they do not accept the contactor system. They said that their hunger camp would continue every day from 7:00am till 4:30 p.m. They said that their camp would continue until the company does not fulfil their demands.

Meanwhile, several people of different walks of life participated in the camp and show solidarity and sympathies with the poor workers and demanded the company to fulfil their demands.
