LRP Publications buys Education Daily and 19 other newsletters from Aspen Publishers.
Aspen is a subsidiary of Wolters Kluwer n.v., which is listed on the Euronext Amsterdam. LRP is privately held.
The acquisition includes the venerable Education Daily, which was founded in 1968. It's delivered by print, e-mail and the web (www.educationdaily.com).
The other acquired properties consist of 11 newsletters for K-12 administrators and eight newsletters for non-profit and grants and fundraising administrators.
"Aspen's well-respected newsletters are a perfect fit with our existing education resources that thousands of administrators, teachers, policy-makers and other professionals rely on," said LRP CEO Ken Kahn in a press release.
"Education Daily and its sister publications allow us to provide our customers with the most comprehensive and updated reporting services available covering national education policy and law," Kahn said.
LRP now publishes more than 110 newsletters in the fields of education administration, human resources, law and higher education--along with its magazine Human Resource Executive, which is read by more than 200,000 HR professionals.
LRP also produces more than 35 conferences and trade shows.
Over the past few years, Aspen has been divesting itself of a number of divisions--including most recently its clinical looseleaf portfolio to Delmar Learning (NL/NL 11/30/03)--in order to concentrate on its legal and business markets.
Eugene Simonoff & Associates of New York represented LRP, and Berkery, Noyes & Co. of New York represented Aspen in the transaction, the terms of which were not disclosed.
