LOWE'S ANNOUNCES WEEKLY SALES

 NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Lowe's (NYSE: LOW) sales for the first week of November 1993 totaled $90.7 million, a 33 percent increase over the first week of November 1992. Sales to retail customers increased 31 percent and sales to contractors grew 36 percent.

 The two-year compound growth rates in weekly sales are: Retail, + 25 percent; Contractor, + 21 percent; and Total, + 23 percent. The November 1991 comparable week's sales from 308 stores, were $39.9 million retail, $19.7 million contractor, and $59.6 million total.
 Lowe's monthly sales report series will continue to summarize four- week, four-week, and five-week totals, including comparable store sales results. Lowe's quarterly news releases of sales and earnings will continue to present precise calendar totals.
 Lowe's is a specialty retailer of home improvement products. The company serves customers in 304 stores in 20 states, and was recently ranked in Doubleday's newest edition of The 100 Best Companies To Work For In America.
