Laura Whitmore works on TV's biggest matchmaking show with boyfriend Iain Stirling - but they don't even sleep in the same hotel room during filming.
Laura, 34, became the face of Love Island in January after Caroline Flack quit in the wake of being charged with assaulting boyfriend Lewis Burton.
But despite the romantic spirit of the show, the Irish TV presenter h a s revealed that she and Edinburgh-born boyfriend Iain, 31, who provides the show's witty voiceover, sleep separately on location.
Laura said: "Iain and I only see each other briefly, we're working to different times.
"We don't even stay in the same hotel room because sometimes I'm working until 4am and he's finished at 9pm."
She added: "I get my hair and make-up done in my room while he plays computer games, so his room's full of Playstations - I'm going out with a 12-year-old."
Laura makes a weekly 24,000-mile round trip from her home in North London to Cape Town as host of Love Island's first winter series.
She says it was Iain who encouraged her to take the highly sought-after hosting role following Flack's public fall from grace.
Laura said: "Iain and I are very private, so we had to have a conversation about how he felt. But he was, like, 'I couldn't think of anyone better to do it and it'll pay our mortgage'."
Laura said the offer to take over as host of the popular show from Flack was bittersweet as the pair were friends.
But it was while she was waiting to reach out to Flack that Laura received a message from the former host giving her blessing.
Laura said: "It was such a weird one. I was really excited but at the same time I couldn't be overexcited because it was a s**t situation.
"While I was waiting to find out if it was OK for me to message her, she messaged me, saying, 'I don't know if you'll get it, but I hope you do,' so that was really nice."
Whitmore admitted that before landing the hosting role, she had a different perspective of the contestants on the popular dating show.
But since getting to know the island hopefuls, she has changed her mind.
Laura said: "Before I'd ever watched Love Island, I probably prejudged the girls.
"But getting to know the islanders you're, like, 'Oh, you're a real person, you've got banter.' "It's OK to care about how you look, you can still be smart."
After filming in South Africa, Laura travels home to host Love Island's spin-off show, Aftersun, and her weekly BBC Radio 5 Live programme.
