LOVE-SPLIT SILE: I'M HAPPY TO BE SINGLE; Star content on her own after Kim break-up.

SILE Seoige yesterday opened up about her love-split, but insisted: "I'm loving being single."

The Newstalk host, 33, ended her three-year relationship with RTE floor manager Kim Burrowes in July - during the time of her nightmare cancer battle.

And speaking about the break-up for the first time, Sile revealed being alone has helped her deal with being too much of a relationship person.

She added: "I am contented in my own company. You know that line about Liz Taylor, 'She didn't date, she just married every man she met?'

"I feel I've been a little like that. I am a relationship person. I was with a man for nearly nine years, whom I married. Then I allowed some time after that and Kim came into my life.

"Now I'm totally single and very much enjoying it - and I'm not just saying that.

"It is a different way for me to be but it has allowed me time to see what makes me tick, because relationships are all about compromise."

And Sile - who was previously married for three years to production manager Glen Mulcahy - believes it's "true" you can lose yourself in a relationship.

But the former RTE broadcaster feels lucky to have got through Christmas without crying.

She told VIP Magazine: "I was unsure whether I would be emotional this Christmas, but I had the best time. I got to spend quality time with my family and my friends and I got to be very selfish."

And Sile, who recently battled thyroid cancer, revealed it was hard not having Kim there on the day she got the allclear.

She said: "The day I got the all-clear was bittersweet. I had been dealing with it for so long and then suddenly... there's a void and a vacuum, and a few weeks before that the relationship I had ended also.

"It was a double whammy.] And on a day like that you want to share your news with the people who are closest to you.

"If Kim and myself had still been together he would have been one of the first, if not the first, I would have told."
