LOUISIANA-PACIFIC TO BUILD ORIENTED STRAND BOARD PLANT
 IN TOMAHAWK, WIS.
TOMAHAWK, Wis., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Louisiana-Pacific Corp. (L-P) (NYSE: LPX) will build a plant in Tomahawk, Wis., that will manufacture the company's Inner-Seal(R) building products. The announcement was made jointly today by Harry A. Merlo, Louisiana- Pacific's chairman and president, and Wisconsin Gov. Tommy G. Thompson. Construction of the plant will begin early this spring, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 1993. The plant will employ about 100 men and women.
Louisiana-Pacific's new plant will produce 125 million square feet a year of oriented strand board (OSB) products, including construction panels, siding, and a variety of specialty products based on the company's OSB technology. L-P uses the trade name "Inner-Seal" to identify its proprietary OSB product line.
"We're pleased to have found the ideal site for our next Inner-Seal plant in Wisconsin," Merlo said. "We built our first Inner-Seal plant back in 1979 in Hayward, Wis., and it has been a great success thanks to an outstanding work force and the support of many state and local community leaders and government officials." In addition to the Hayward facility in the State, L-P has a plant in Mellen, Wis., which manufactures hardwood veneer.
Louisiana-Pacific was the first major U.S. manufacturer of OSB products and is recognized as the clear leader in the field both in terms of production
levels and technological innovation. L-P now has

16 Inner-Seal plants with a total capacity of about three billion square feet a year.
Inner-Seal oriented strand board has a number of advantages over traditional building products such as plywood. Inner-Seal construction panels, for example, are more uniform than plywood with none of plywood's knotholes, hidden voids, and delamination problems. Most important these days is the fact that Inner-Seal products are made from plentiful, noncontroversial timber sources.
Louisiana-Pacific is a leading forest products firm known for its innovation in developing innovative, affordable, environmentally sound building materials.
