LOTUS DEVELOPMENT LICENSES ENTRY-LEVEL PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY FROM ACE SOFTWARE CORP. SAN JOSE, Calif., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Ace Software Corp. announced today that it has entered into a Technology License and Distribution Agreement with Lotus Development Corp. for AceFile for Windows, an award-winning Windows database manager from Ace Software Corp. The AceFile(TM) technology will be used in future entry-level products from Lotus Development. "We looked at several companies, but found that AceFile offered the best technical foundation for certain of our future entry-level products," said Bruce Johnston, a general manager at Lotus Development. "It's a great endorsement for us, especially when we are a small company with limited operating and marketing experience," said Vish Mishra, president & CEO of the San Jose-based Ace Software Corp. The license is non-exclusive with worldwide distribution rights. No other terms of the pact were disclosed. Ace Software Corp. is a San Jose-based privately held software company. AceFile, the company's first product, is a dBASE compatible database product running under microsoft Windows and has been shipping since October 1991. AceFile is designed as a personal data manager for professionals who may be first-time computer users. Any existing data in dBASE format or in any popular product such as 1-2-3 or Excel can be used as is. AceFile has received many favorable reviews in trade and business magazines including Data Based Advisor, PC Week, PC Computing, PC Magazine and PC Sources.
