LORD & TAYLOR TO OPEN NEW STORE: CROSS GATES MALL IN ALBANY, NEW YORK. NEW YORK, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Lord & Taylor has announced plans to open its 49th store in Albany, N.Y. located in the Cross Gates Mall, a Pyramid Development Corporation project. The new store is scheduled to open in the fall of 1993. The two-level 100,000 square-foot store will focus on American designers -- emphasizing updated classic fashions for women and men that are directed toward their lifestyles -- career, week-end and special occasion dressing. As part of a new breed in store design for Lord & Taylor, the Cross Gates Mall store will be designed with utmost attention to detail with state-of-the-art lighting techniques, display cases, fixtures and general decor. The interior will be a contemporary environment with a traditional ambiance using high quality materials, such as fabric-wrapped panels and white-washed oaks to accent the merchandise and create a comfortable, pleasurable atmosphere for shoppers. The classic elegance of the interior will have a honey-vanilla color palette as a backdrop. Clean beiges are complemented by hues of coral and soft seafoam and forest green. Marshall Hilsberg, chairman and chief executive officer of Lord & Taylor, said, "Our new store in Albany will reflect our fashion leadership and high quality merchandising standards that Lord & Taylor represents. It reconfirms our commitment to Upstate New York and we look forward to creating an exciting and stimulating new store and shopping environment."
