LONGEST ASBESTOS TRIAL ENDS -- DEFENSE VERDICTS

 PITTSBURGH, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- In what is believed to be the longest civil case ever tried in the state courts of West Virginia, four former manufacturers of asbestos building materials were found to have no liability to the State of West Virginia for asbestos-containing materials in state buildings, it was announced today.
 Following a six-month trial, the jury returned zero damage findings against W.R. Grace & Co., Asbestospray, Inc., Keene Corporation and Pfizer, Inc.
 In seeking compensatory damages of approximately $25 million, plus punitive damages, the state called a "who's who" of plaintiffs' experts to testify, including Dr. Gerrit Schepers, Dr. James Millette, Dr. Elliot Kagan, Dr. David Groth, Dr. Arnold Brody, Dr. Henry Anderson, Dr. Stephen Levin, Dr. David Ozonoff, Dr. John Harington, James Hubbard, William Ewing, David Mayer and John Folkner. Testifying on behalf of the defense were Dr. Morton Corn, Dr. Richard Lee, Dr. Ronald Crystal and Dr. John Craighead.
 Liaison counsel for the defendants and lead counsel for W.R.
