LOCKHEED ANNOUNCES OFFICER APPOINTMENTS CALABASAS, Calif., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Corp.
(NYSE: LK) today announced four appointments, effective Jan. 1, to senior corporate positions.
William T. Vinson, 48, currently corporate vice president- secretary and assistant general counsel, will become vice president and general counsel when Joseph G. Twomey, 65, retires from the corporation's senior legal post at the end of December. Carol Werner Marshall, 38, a Lockheed attorney for the past 10 years, will succeed Vinson as corporate vice president-secretary and assistant general counsel. Robert C. Gusman, 59, a key member of the corporate legal staff, was promoted to staff vice president-assistant general counsel and assistant secretary. Dr. William R. Sorenson, 50, presently corporate staff vice president-manufacturing, was elected corporate vice president- operations to succeed E. Allen Thompson, 65, who will retire at the end of December. Sorenson began his Lockheed career in 1981 at Lockheed Missiles & Space Co. (LMSC) in Sunnyvale, Calif. Earlier, he served with the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Texas A&M and a Ph.D. in space sciences from Rice University. Vinson, an engineering management graduate of the Air Force Academy, earned his juris doctor degree at UCLA and served in the Air Force Judge Advocate Department. He joined Lockheed in 1975 and was chief counsel of LMSC before coming to the corporate headquarters in 1990. Marshall joined the corporate staff in 1986 after five years at the former Lockheed Shipbuilding Co., Seattle, where she was director of legal affairs. She holds a bachelor's degree from Miami University in Ohio and a juris doctor degree from Toledo University. Gusman was assistant general counsel of Aerojet-General Corp. and, earlier, served in the Navy's office of general counsel before coming to Lockheed in 1970. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from New York University and a law degree from Cornell. Gusman serves on the Federal Contracts Report Advisory Board and the Public Contracts Law Section of the American Bar Association and is a past chairman of the Aerospace Industries Legal Committee. Twomey, a native of Boston and a graduate of Boston College, joined Lockheed in 1963 after 12 years of government legal service. He was company counsel at LMSC before coming to the corporate headquarters as chief counsel in 1977. He became Lockheed's senior legal officer in 1983. Thompson, a native of Chicago, was a Navy pilot from 1944 to 1946.
