LOCAL SHELL DEALERS AND JOBBERS PUMP A PENNY TO AID FLOOD VICTIMS

ST. LOUIS, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell service station dealers in the Greater St. Louis area have pledged to donate a penny of their profits for every gallon of gasoline they sell on July 12, 13 and 14. All of the funds collected during this three-day fundraiser, starting today, will be used to purchase relief items for flood victims in the St. Louis area. Shell Oil Company will match the donation its dealers raise in the St. Louis area. There are 85 Shell service stations in the Greater St. Louis area.
Approximately 100 Shell jobber stations in Illinois and Missouri have also agreed to donate a penny of their profits for every gallon of gasoline they sell July 14, 15 and 16. Shell dealers and jobbers combined expect to contribute approximately $20,000 to the relief effort in Illinois and Missouri through this fundraising effort.
The money collected during this fundraiser will be used to purchase relief goods such as batteries, canned goods, diapers and bottled water for flood victims. These items will be distributed at relief tents in Missouri and Illinois staffed by Shell volunteers early next week. Shell Oil Company will assist in the flood relief operation by contributing additional funding for relief items on behalf of its employees, dealers and jobbers in Illinois and Missouri.
