 LOCAL COMPANY USES EMPLOYEE AUCTION
TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS
BURLINGTON, Mass., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Can you imagine giving away your ticket to a Celtics game, and then watching as someone bids $60 at a charity auction for it? That's what happened to Harry Merkin's prized ticket recently. The ticket was one of the hundred items and services donated to the first BACHMAN employee charity auction, organized by the BACHMAN Activities Committee. Proceeds from the auction will be presented today to representatives from the Pine Street Inn and Rosie's Place, two Boston shelters for the homeless.
Employees donated items and services ranging from antique bowls and hand-made Christmas ornaments to windsurfing lessons and pet grooming services.
"The items generated bids far in excess of their value, indicating our employees' spirit of the season and their desire to help out those less fortunate," said Liz Greenleaf, manager of human resources, Bachman Information Systems, Inc.
BACHMAN will present checks for $1,000 to Rosie's Place, and $3,800 to the Pine Street Inn, a larger facility.
