 "Quality is Job 1" has been more than an advertising slogan for Ford Motor Company, it's been their credo.
 Quality Assurance is perhaps the biggest and most important issue, not only at Ford, but throughout business and industry today. R.I. Lampus Company has just been recognized for its outstanding quality as a supplier to Ford by receiving the prestigious Q1 Preferred Quality Award. This is an example of how suppliers that achieve the highest quality standards win in business.

 What: The story of the pursuit of quality in American industry
 and how one local company is playing a leading role.
 When/Where: The Q1 Preferred Quality Award will be presented by Ford
 to the employees of R.I. Lampus Company at a luncheon
 Nov. 25 at the R.I. Lampus Springdale facility. A
 special Q1 flag-raising ceremony will take place
 immediately after the award presentation.
 Why: Good is no longer good enough. To compete, suppliers
 are finding that quality means control and R.I. Lampus
 is one local company meeting that challenge.
 Background:
 R.I. Lampus Company supplies silicon briquettes to Ford Motor Company's Cleveland Casting plant for casting engine components. The chemical additive "sweetens" a metal before it is cast or molded.
 R.I. Lampus Company averages $5 million to $8 million a year in silicon briquettes to Ford and various foundries around the country. The company has been producing the additive for some 20 years and is the largest single plant supplier in the country.
