LMI Aerospace, Inc. (NASDAQ: LMIA) said it has announced a successful design build program with Embraer (NYSE: ERJ).

LMI's integrated design build team began working with Embraer in 2011 on producing the moveable leading edge slat assembly for the Embraer KC-390 military transport aircraft.

"This program is the beginning of what we expect to be a long-term relationship with Embraer and another successful demonstration of our talented engineering team developing a product from specification to production," said CEO Dan Korte.

Chris Lager, program manager for the KC-390 was on site in Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil for the Embraer rollout celebration on October 21, 2014.

"We are pleased to see our completed slat assemblies on this high-technology aircraft," said Lager. "It has been a pleasure working with Embraer and we look forward to the first flight scheduled to take place by the end of this year."

There are ten moveable slat assemblies per aircraft. This program is a joint effort involving several LMI facilities with the slat assembly occurring in our facility in St. Charles, MO and the skins and machine formed structural components fabricated in other plants in California, Kansas and Missouri.
