LLOYDS TOPS COMPLAINTS; For live business news visit city desk.

MORE than 6,000 customers a week lodged complaints with the financial ombudsman during the first half of this year.

The 161,390 total was from people who weren't happy with how their bank or other financial provider had dealt with a problem.

Nearly 73,500 complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service related to mis-sold payment protection insurance.

Lloyds Banking Group generated the most complaints with 34,373, although it is the UK's biggest retail banking business. Its tally was also 13.6 per cent lower than the 39,785 gripes Lloyds and its offshoots received in the second half of last year.
